Switching to vaping could save smokers a whopping \u00a31,699 per year, new research shows. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Researchers at Vape Superstore found that smokers in the UK spend \u00a32,366 a year on cigarettes – over THREE TIMES as much as those who use a vaping kit.<\/p>\n

Those using disposable vapes (31 per cent of all vapers) can expect to save \u00a31,326 per year compared to smoking. <\/p>\n

To put these figures into perspective, the average annual energy bill for a two to three person household in 2024 is \u00a31,769, according to British Gas. <\/p>\n

Currently you can buy disposable vapes for around \u00a36, while the average price for a packet of 20 cigarettes is around \u00a315.<\/p>\n

A proposed vaping tax – set to come in from October 2026 – will see the cost of vaping e-liquid rise from \u00a33 (per 10ml at 10mg strength) to \u00a35. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile a new tobacco duty means the cost of a packet of 20 cigarettes will rise from \u00a313.49 to \u00a316. <\/p>\n

Even after the new vape levy kicks in, vaping will still be more than three times cheaper compared to a 10 a day smoking habit.<\/p>\n

The new study also reveals the most expensive countries in the world for smokers. <\/p>\n

Australia tops the table, with a typical smoker spending \u00a34,057 over a year. According to the average monthly salary, smokers in Australia can expect to spend 12 per cent of their income on cigarettes alone. <\/p>\n

New Zealand comes in second with smokers spending \u00a33,352 (12 per cent of the average salary), followed by Ireland at \u00a32,413 (or eight per cent of the average salary). <\/p>\n

At the bottom of the table is Switzerland, where smokers can expect to spend \u00a31,478 per year on cigarettes, or two per cent of the average salary.

Numbeo<\/a> was used to identify the cost of a packet of Marlboro cigarettes in each country, in which the countries were ranked according to its descending cost. The yearly cost is under the assumption that half a packet of cigarettes lasts one day<\/a>. <\/p>\n

David Phillips of Vape Superstore said: \u201cE-cigarettes have been endorsed by multiple health professionals as a means to quit smoking without inhaling the harmful toxins that are in traditional cigarettes. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs well as being a healthier alternative, our research shows that smoking is much more expensive than using a vape kit; 77 per cent more expensive in fact. In a time when being conscious of spending is a top priority, it is positive to see that e-cigarettes are a far more cost effective option, in which you are able to save almost \u00a32,000 each year.\u201d<\/p>\n
