Vicky Pattison reveals her vape is a Strictly ‘training essential’

Vicky Pattison has revealed that her vape has become a Strictly Come Dancing “training essential.”

The TV personality, 37, who is paired with professional dancer Kai Widdrington on this year’s BBC show, opened up about her routine on her ‘Get A Grip’ podcast. She said she turns to her vape to take the edge off the long, demanding days in training.

‘I am a vapist!’

“Giving up things is really hard,” she said. “I can’t remember the specific turning point. Last week… it’s always emotions with me. Like, I know I’m doing that… I’m craving relaxation.

“In a world where I can’t cultivate it naturally because my schedule’s a bit unrelenting, I’m doing it synthetically. I was about five, six days in, but then it all unravelled. So I’m back vaping. I’m not proud of it, but it’s who I am. I am a vapist!”

Later, Vicky shared an update on Instagram, posting a photo of her “training essentials” – with her vape taking pride of place among them.

Feeling the pressure

Her candid admission comes as Strictly rehearsals ramp up for the celebrity contestants, with Pattison describing the process as both exhilarating and intimidating.

“You’re with the tiny professional female dancers carved by angels – they’re the most beautiful creatures – and you’re standing there like a little pudding in your gym kit,” she said. “And that’s before you start dancing and realise how inept you are. I was in a state of shock.”

Manifesting the moment

The former Geordie Shore star has long credited visualisation for helping her achieve her ambitions. Two years ago, she revealed she made a vision board featuring a picture of 2017 Strictly contestant Gemma Atkinson – with her own face stuck on top.

“I feel like a proper creep,” she laughed. “But I love a bit of manifestation.”

That approach seems to have paid off. Over the past few years, Pattison has ticked off a string of personal and professional goals, from hosting radio shows and making documentaries to finding love and settling down with her dogs.

Glitter, graft – and a vape on hand

Now, she’s taking on Strictly with her trademark humour and openness – vape in hand.

Alongside Pattison, this year’s line-up includes Gladiator’s Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, actors Alex Kingston, Stefan Dennis and Lewis Cope, drag artist La Voix, and former footballers Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Karen Carney.Other famous people known to vape include Justin Bieber, Kate Moss, Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Allen, Amy Lou-Wood and Cara Delevingne.
