The CEO of German publishing powerhouse Axel Springer lashed out at the European Commission’s proposal to ban vaping everywhere, saying that it’s causing voters to lose respect for the EU – an argument Clearing the Air’s co-founder has also made.
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People – a well known self-help book – has thoughts on scheduling. “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule”, according to its author Stephen Covey, “but to schedule your priorities”.
The research, published in the scientific journal BMC Medicine and funded by Cancer Research UK, found that a rise in vaping over the last decade has largely been driven by people using vapes to quit smoking.
The ban is part of the new ‘Anti-Tobacco Plan,’ which aims to limit products that cause a risk to young people’s health and are a ‘gateway’ to smoking.
The research, published in the journal Scientific Reports, compared respiratory symptoms among adults who vape – but crucially, have never been regular smokers – with those who have never smoked or vaped.
Under the new legislation, announced by the Ministry of Health, vapes and their packaging will no longer be allowed to be on display in general retail shops. This includes advertising and display in online stores and in automated vending machines.
Sir Christopher Chope pointed to the government’s own impact assessment report, which found that as many as 29 per cent of current vapers could be driven back into smoking as a result of the ban.
The paper, published in the journal Nicotine and Tobacco Research by Oxford University Press, observed a group of adult smokers in the U.S. who had reported a baseline cough or wheeze.
