Kate Moss spotted vaping and enjoying a beer at BST Hyde Park festival

Kate Moss turned heads at British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park on Friday as she was seen casually vaping and sipping a beer during Neil Young’s headline set.

The 51-year-old supermodel looked effortlessly stylish in a plunging leopard print maxi dress, sandals, and oversized sunglasses. With a beer in one hand and a red vape in the other, she looked relaxed and happy among friends.

Once dubbed “The Tank” during her hard-partying heyday, Kate later adopted a wellness-focused lifestyle, reportedly ditching alcohol in 2017 in favour of pilates, juice cleanses, and herbal teas through her lifestyle brand ‘Cosmoss’.

“Greatest smoker of all time”

A former heavy smoker – and given the nickname the “greatest smoker of all time” – she shifted to vapes as a less harmful alternative. She was first seen with a vape in 2022. A year later she was photographed puffing on a cherry peach lemonade disposable vape.

Kate’s outing at Hyde Park follows a milestone birthday earlier this year, when she rang in her 51st with a night out at China Tang and a late celebration at The Globe in Notting Hill.

Sources close to the supermodel say that since her split from longtime partner Nikolai von Bismarck, Kate is embracing her independence and re-engaging with her social life.

Her evening at Hyde Park follows a mother-daughter getaway to Ibiza with 21-year-old Lila.

Celebrities choosing vapes over cigarettes

Kate’s latest high-profile appearance adds to a growing list of celebrities who have been seen choosing vapes over cigarettes. Model Bella Hadid was recently photographed vaping at Paris Fashion Week, while actress Lily Allen and musician Doja Cat have both openly talked about turning to vaping to kick traditional cigarettes.

Actor Timothée Chalamet has also been spotted vaping on multiple occasions, including at red carpet events.

Last year Simon Cowell credited vaping with helping him to quit his 80-a-day smoking habit. The music mogul, 63, said he switched to vapes after suffering from a bout of laryngitis the previous year that caused him to lose his voice.

Cowell, who would get through 80 cigarettes a day while often working through the night, said he had tried vaping in the past but not been successful. He said it took finding a flavour he likes to help him finally give up smoking.

He said: “The vape has been successful. It’s a good one, it tastes nice and sweet.

Katy Perry, Richard Hammond, Katie Price and Kylie Jenner have also used vapes to help them quit smoking.
