{"id":16446,"date":"2024-04-10T12:19:41","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T12:19:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/were-unsure-how-many-vapers-will-return-to-smoking-after-disposables-ban-admits-uk-government\/"},"modified":"2025-01-07T12:13:58","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T12:13:58","slug":"were-unsure-how-many-vapers-will-return-to-smoking-after-disposables-ban-admits-uk-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/es\/post\/were-unsure-how-many-vapers-will-return-to-smoking-after-disposables-ban-admits-uk-government\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018We\u2019re unsure how many vapers will return to smoking after disposables ban,\u2019 admits UK Government"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"clear-before-content-2\" style=\"margin-top: 20px;margin-bottom: 20px;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"clear-121248558\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broughton-group.com\/nicotine?utm_campaign=43296353-Clearing%20the%20Air%20PPC%20Campaign%20-%202026&#038;utm_source=ppc&#038;utm_medium=Paid%20Ads\" aria-label=\"728 x 90 (2)\"><img src=\"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/728-x-90-2.png\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/728-x-90-2.png 728w, https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/728-x-90-2-300x37.png 300w, https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/728-x-90-2-370x46.png 370w, https:\/\/clearingtheair.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/728-x-90-2-600x74.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div><div class=\"post-cat\">news<\/div>\n<p id=\"\"><strong>The UK Government has admitted it doesn\u2019t know how many vapers will return to potentially fatal smoking after the disposable vape ban.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"\">Conservative MP Andrea Leadsom was asked by Adam Afriyie MP in Parliament last week whether she had done a risk assessment on the number of vapers expected to return to smoking if the ban was enforced.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"\">This is considered an essential step by action groups, given that cigarettes are a death sentence to around half of smokers &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/ash.org.uk\/resources\/view\/facts-at-a-glance#:~:text=Summary,million%20deaths%20a%20year%20globally.\" id=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eight million smokers die globally<\/a> per year &#8211; and vaping is an effective quitting tool.<\/p>\n<p id=\"\">However, despite nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/ash.org.uk\/resources\/view\/use-of-e-cigarettes-among-adults-in-great-britain-2021\" id=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a third of adult vapers using disposables<\/a>, the Government\u2019s impact assessment concluded that the number who might return to vaping is \u2018difficult to quantify.\u2019<\/p>\n<p id=\"\">Recent research led by Dr. Sarah Jackson at University College London revealed that around three million people would be negatively impacted by a disposable vape ban.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"\">This breaks down into \u201c1.2 million people who currently smoke and would benefit from switching to e-cigarettes completely, and a further 744,000 who previously smoked and may be at risk of relapse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"\">The researchers said it was important to support disposable vapers to swap to a different kind of vape instead of returning to smoking.
